3A118 *NEW* Calligraphy – Copperplate

-Adult- | Available

Graceful loops, swelling strokes and flowing hairlines—Copperplate is the 15th century romantic and ornate script of handwritten letters and wedding invitations. Written with a flexible pointed nib, its elegant forms come from changing the pressure as you write, producing lines that move between delicate and bold. In this workshop, you'll learn the tools and techniques of pointed-pen calligraphy as you explore this flowing script. Use it to bring timeless elegance to your correspondence, invitations and art projects. A pointed nib, oblique holder and walnut ink are provided. No previous skills required Level: ALL

Chan, Aline
Aline Chan

To Aline, calligraphy is more than just a way to write – it is a way to express oneself. Ever since she was a child, she has written with a nib pen and has since studied calligraphy with several international master calligraphers. Aline is also a quilter, working on several projects with the City of Hamilton including Canada’s 125th Anniversary, Hamilton’s Sesquicentennial and an anniversary of the War of 1812 project. In her workshops at DVSA, Aline teaches traditional styles of calligraphy.
