3A67 *NEW* Botanical Art – From Sketch To Study (Online)

-Adult- | Available

Sketchbooks have become a much-loved part of botanical art. For some artists, they’re lasting legacies—collections of carefully observed studies gathered through the turning seasons. For others, they’re a place to practice without the pressure of a finished piece, and to explore new plants and their structures, colours and textures. Today’s sketchbooks come in a wide range of sizes and papers, and many handle both wet and dry media beautifully. Margaret will walk you through the most widely available options, from affordable to luxurious and bespoke, so you can find the right fit. She’ll then guide you through a purposeful fresh start in your sketchbook, with lessons in graphite sketching and value studies, colour matching in watercolour or coloured pencil, and turning your best sketches into finished compositions. Discover how a sketchbook can sharpen your observation, expand your skills and deepen your joy in capturing the plant world. Prerequisites: Participants must be comfortable drawing from actual subjects, not digital images. Level: AD

Members: $344.59 + HST, Non-Members: $355 + HST
