-Adult- | Available

Italics was originally used for official Vatican documents and was designed for beauty and efficiency. It is widely used for invitations, greeting cards and journals because it can be formal or casual. And, it’s popular for beginners due to the structured nature of its forms and its adaptability to both traditional and contemporary styles. In this class, you’ll receive an introduction to calligraphy’s tools and techniques as you explore this lively cursive. The results are sure to deliver an air of elegance and

expressiveness to your correspondence, invitations and art designs. No previous skills required. Bring your 3mm Pilot Parallel pen. Ink will be supplied.

Chan, Aline
Aline Chan

To Aline, calligraphy is more than just a way to write – it is a way to express oneself. Ever since she was a child, she has written with a nib pen and has since studied calligraphy with several international master calligraphers. Aline is also a quilter, working on several projects with the City of Hamilton including Canada’s 125th Anniversary, Hamilton’s Sesquicentennial and an anniversary of the War of 1812 project. In her workshops at DVSA, Aline teaches traditional styles of calligraphy.
