It comes from the stylized forms of the 1920’s and 30’s – a monoline lettering style based on the works of Rennie Mackintosh. In this class, you’ll receive an introduction to calligraphy’s tools and techniques as you explore this lively cursive. The results are sure to deliver an air of elegance and expressiveness to your correspondence, invitations and art designs. No previous skills required.

Aline Chan
To Aline, calligraphy is more than just a way to write – it is a way to express oneself. Ever since she was a child, she has written with a nib pen and has since studied calligraphy with several international master calligraphers. Aline is also a quilter, working on several projects with the City of Hamilton including Canada’s 125th Anniversary, Hamilton’s Sesquicentennial and an anniversary of the War of 1812 project. In her workshops at DVSA, Aline teaches traditional styles of calligraphy.
