A companion to our Paint BIG course, this class explores the unique challenges and creative possibilities of working on a small scale. Through still life, landscape and portrait studies, you’ll learn how to apply core painting fundamentals—composition, value, colour mixing and brushwork – to create bold, impactful pieces in a compact format. This is a fantastic opportunity to build a series of striking small works and/or experiment with foundational techniques that can later be scaled up into larger paintings.
Open to all levels—from beginner to advanced.

Michelle Teitsma
Originally trained in classical animation, Michelle is a spark plug in the studio, bringing a strong foundation of drawing and painting skills along with experience in a wide range of media. She now works exclusively in oil with her artwork collected both nationally and abroad. Unafraid to assign a fun painting challenge, Michelle is dedicated to making each class a positive experience for her students and delivers her lessons with a style that is cheerful and encouraging.
