With spring in full bloom, we’ll take inspiration from the season’s flowers for this two-session creative experience. You and your young artist will explore floral still life drawing and look to iconic works from art history for ideas and insight – think Van Gogh’s sunflowers, Monet’s waterlilies and O’Keeffe’s bold poppies. Working both independently and collaboratively, you’ll experiment with drawing and painting techniques using pastels, watercolour and acrylics. By the end, expect to bring home vibrant, frame-worthy floral artworks that celebrate colour and the season’s rejuvenating spirit.

Cassandra Ferguson
Cassandra received her MFA from the University of Guelph in 2019 and her BFA from McMaster University in 2015. In her own work, she is fuelled by the seductive character of common objects and manufactured environments, producing sculptures and drawings that reveal an interest in architecture, industrial manufacture and design practices. A gifted instructor, she works primarily with children and teens in the development of their art skills, fostering an engaging and experimental studio.
