Take your ceramic surfaces to the next level as we dive into the rare and captivating world of Cone 10 gas reduction firing. In this exciting workshop, you'll explore a range of illustrative surface techniques – including wax and latex resists, glaze painting, underglaze, and oxide decoration – to create richly layered and visually intriguing effects on your pottery. Guided experimentation is encouraged as you push beyond simple dipping methods, expanding both your technical skills and decorative palette. The unpredictable beauty of reduction firing will add depth and character to your work, making each piece truly one-of-a-kind. Bring your own bisque-fired pieces made from Cone 10-rated clay and get ready to transform them in the studio. Bisque tiles will also be provided. Note: Participants must have completed an introductory pottery class.

Zoë Pinnell
Zoë is a ceramicist working out of Hamilton and a graduate of Sheridan College.Her work consists of illustrated sculptural and functional handbuilt objects that are decorated with colourful glazes, underglaze and terra sigillata. She brings extensive handbuilding knowledge to the DVSA studios – sure to inspire and help push the boundaries of working with clay.
