Does your young artist adore the sugary-sweet and endearingly adorable world of Kawaii? Inspired by Japanese pop culture, this charming style has captured the hearts of youth everywhere – think Pusheen the Cat, Sanrio’s Cinnamoroll and the iconic Hello Kitty. In this playful studio, the artists will dive into the design elements that make these characters so endearing, then apply those principles to create their own unique and lovable character designs. Projects include drawing and painting original creations and fan favorites, crafting short comics, designing “cute-ified” self-portraits, and bringing characters to life in 3D using plasticine and hand-built clay sculptures—perfect for display or gentle play.
Members: $238.34 + HST, Non-Members: $245 + HST. Thursday.

As graduate of McMaster University’s Studio Art Program, Heather brings an abundance of knowledge and creativity to the DVSA studios. Her classes are informative, stuctured and a blast to be in. A favourite with young artists, Heather fosters students to push their boundaries and explore their artistic abilities in an inclusive, comfortable and creative environment.
