Understanding how kiln firings work is a valuable tool on your journey to becoming an accomplished potter. As you learn the basics of operating both manual and digital fire electric kilns, we’ll cover kiln safety, studio safety, kiln loading and maintenance. You’ll also have the hands-on experience of loading a kiln under supervision and how to maintain the upkeep of kiln shelves. Plus, there’ll be time for Q&A on choosing a home kiln, how kiln firing affects your pieces and more.

Amanda Kopas
Amanda attended Haliburton School of the Arts for an intensive one semester program in ceramics. Upon graduation in 2013, she did a second year of the ceramics diploma program at Sheridan College before heading east to attain her BFA at Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. She also took on a seasonal residency at the Nova Scotia Centre for Craft. Now back in Hamilton, she is active teaching classes, participating in shows and making ceramic creations in her home studio. Learn more about Amanda here.
