Accuracy of natural plant colour is part of the science connection in botanical art. Join Heather for some basic colour theory and how to create your own colour reference for future plant studies. You’ll also learn about the process of selecting a personal palette of colours that will set you up for success in this medium. This is a recommended pre-requisite to the following core technique workshop. Participants must already own or purchase a copy of the accompanying e-booklet “Picking a Palette, "available as an add-on when registering for $20 + HST.

Heather Gross
Heather’s experience in education – thirty plus years as a teacher and principal – shines through in her teaching at DVSA. She shares her knowledge of the fundamentals of traditional botanical art with those who are new to this genre and to aspiring botanical artists. Working primarily in graphite and watercolour, she continues to hone her artistic skills with ongoing study and mentorship under Margaret Best. A member of the American Society of Botanical Artists (ASBA), Heather's botanical work can be found in several private collections.
