We live in a patterned world. Whether we find them in nature, architecture or a simple wallpaper design, patterns surround us, imbued with the power to inspire, evoke memories and help us tell our stories. Hamilton artist, Stephen Altena employs patterns and decorative motifs as the basis for his artwork. In this course, you’ll begin experimenting with the creation of basic patterns using paint through demonstrations and exercises provided by the instructor. You’ll then move on to developing patterns that are meaningful to you, creating personal artworks that function beyond decoration or ornament and are sure to further your own artistic vision. Some previous painting experience is recommended.
