Hamilton artist, James Gummerson is renowned for his urban landscape paintings. This course explores the beauty and exciting potential in everyday city scenes. You’ll learn to identify and understand the unique challenges of painting cityscapes while covering topics such as lighting and movement. Working from photo reference, you’ll uncover various methods to create and plan dynamic compositions. We’ll also explore how to use abstract compositional techniques to increase interest in your paintings while creating your own conceptual ideas around cityscapes. Open to students who have completed a beginners’ painting course.
