This studio encourages young artists to expand and challenge their understanding of what art is and can be. We’ll look to the alternative and experimental artists and thinkers throughout history as the inspiration to create 2D and 3D works driven by emotion, imagination and big ideas. During our week together, we’ll create artworks in drawing, painting, printmaking, collage and sculpture; and investigate the ways in which artists throughout history have pushed limits to make art that was revolutionary and exciting. We’ll step outside the expected and build our own drawing and painting tools for expressive mark making, investigate land art and site specific installations, build kinetic sculptures and work with street and fibre art. Come and try new tools and materials, take creative risks, make mistakes and ultimately explore the art making processes available to reveal our ideas and imaginations.
