Experiment with new materials and modes of making art. In this captivating week, you’ll create artworks in drawing, painting and sculpture as we explore a range of artistic mediums, materials, concepts and dimensions. We’ll develop technical skills through realistic drawing activities, learn about colour theory, discover new painting techniques and investigate the mechanics and processes involved when building sculptures and 3D forms. Most importantly, this week is an opportunity to expand your art material “vocabulary.” We’ll explore materials such as charcoal, oil and chalk pastels, watercolour and acrylic paints, paper mache and cardboard – all while studying different historical art styles and movements sure to provide inspiration for our projects.

Cassandra Ferguson
Cassandra received her MFA from the University of Guelph in 2019 and her BFA from McMaster University in 2015. In her own work, she is fuelled by the seductive character of common objects and manufactured environments, producing sculptures and drawings that reveal an interest in architecture, industrial manufacture and design practices. A gifted instructor, she works primarily with children and teens in the development of their art skills, fostering an engaging and experimental studio.
