Learn how to carve whimsical cottages in cottonwood bark, a material easy to shape using a basic carving knife. The first class will involve selecting your bark wedges and creating a sketch for your piece. Various techniques will be demonstrated and discussed as you work towards a finished carving. There’s plenty of instruction provided with an emphasis on individual guidance. Material fee includes 2 pieces of cottonwood bark and finishing wax/oil for your carving. Students will need to supply their own basic tools (see material list). The instructor will have a selection of carving tools to demonstrate how they can be used to augment a basic carving knife.
