Adobe InDesign is the industry-leading layout and page design software for print and digital media. Students will gain the software skills needed to create, preflight, and publish everything from printed and digital materials to interactive online documents, as well as the ability to create design solutions using thoughtful, visual communication. Students will also learn through presentations, discussions, and critiques. 

For online Adobe courses, students are responsible for purchasing their own software. In-class courses are held in OCAD U's computer labs using the latest software.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Upon successful completion of this course, students will learn:

  • Differentiate and navigate between relevant vocabularies of publication graphics and understand its structure, organization, content creation and visual communication, in the construction of unique Adobe InDesign CC designs
  • Interpret the contextual uses of digital design formats and apply Adobe InDesign CC techniques to visually communicate their visual, textual and interactive ideas to their audiences
  • Gain critical knowledge of Adobe InDesign CC by studying and skillfully applying the full range of the software’s creation and editing capabilities to create unique design
  • Create design solutions using thoughtful, visual communication
  • Critique individual’s preliminary work using professional examples and develop the visual acuity to plan the best revisions for their own final Adobe InDesign CC designs

  • In partnership with OCAD U, DVSA offers a selection of online courses each term. Up to 8 credits from the OCAD U Online courses can be applied towards completion of DVSA’s Foundational Certificate Program. Registration must be done through DVSA. Students will receive their course log in information and network credentials by email directly from OCAD U one week before the course start date. For more information on OCAD U Online courses, visit https://dvsa.ca/ocadu-online/. Online courses are delivered in an asynchronous format through a series of tutorials and related assignments which students may complete at their own pace on our Learning Management System, Canvas. The instructor is available throughout the course time period for questions and discussions. Learn more about what to expect in an online course at OCAD U. As a Continuing Studies student, you will receive an OCAD U user account, which will grant you access to Canvas, and our on-campus WiFi network.   • Required Software/Supplies
    Regular access to a computer with a high speed broadband internet connection is required. For online Adobe classes, students are responsible for purchasing their own software for class.
