3A115 *NEW* Calligraphy—The Unconventional Pointed Pen

-Adult- | This program is completed

Tiny foundational letterforms and Roman capitals using the versatile pointed pen will be the focus for this workshop. We’ll begin our study working with monoline forms, then use the pointed pen which helps provide the refinement and elegance we are looking for. We’ll investigate variations and how to achieve details while reducing the x-height of our letters. And, we’ll use the form of Roman hand minuscule as well as majuscule for their versatility and elegance. The results are sure to deliver an air of expressiveness to your correspondence, invitations and art designs. No previous skills required. Steel nib, holder and walnut ink will be provided. Bring your oblique pen holder if you have one (optional).
Members: $169.99 + HST, Non-Members: $175 + HST. Tuesday.

Chan, Aline
Aline Chan

To Aline, calligraphy is more than just a way to write – it is a way to express oneself. Ever since she was a child, she has written with a nib pen and has since studied calligraphy with several international master calligraphers. Aline is also a quilter, working on several projects with the City of Hamilton including Canada’s 125th Anniversary, Hamilton’s Sesquicentennial and an anniversary of the War of 1812 project. In her workshops at DVSA, Aline teaches traditional styles of calligraphy.
