In this fun and conversational class, we’ll explore the dynamic relationship between fine art and fashion design during the 20^th and 21^st centuries. Get to know the signature styles of Chanel, Prada and McQueen, examine trendsetting looks in Hollywood costume design, and investigate the creative side of fashion magazines and advertising. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of how fashion is a powerful artistic force that reflects societal values while also challenging traditions. Previous art history experience is not required. Please bring a sketch pad and drawing supplies to try your hand at some fashion illustration.
