Bring in your own sculpture and give it some colour. The surface finish for sculpture allows for a great deal of experimentation, whether it’s plaster, bisque fired ceramic, wood or resin. In this class, we’ll discuss methods of colouration that can be used on top of a repair or failed glaze/underglaze to add a pleasing finish to your sculpture. Examples of several Faux patinas will be shown and discussed which will allow you to explore the finish that pleases you the most. An Encaustic method – a wax coating which is coloured by mixing dry powdered pigment, graphite and bronze will be demonstrated to create a bronze look. Sealing cracks and simple repairs will also be topics we’ll explore.
