A special engaging and inspiring course designed for the absolute beginner potter. You’ll learn the basics of handbuilding with clay, using pinch pot slab and coil techniques to create your own unique projects. Then, it’s on to an introduction to the pottery wheel for shaping more of your clay ideas. We’ll end with lessons on selecting and applying glazes and how to prep your works for the kiln firing stage. Please note: there will be no class on February 16th & March 9th*

Dawn Hackett-Burns
Acclaimed ceramic artist and Sheridan grad, Dawn Hackett-Burns lives in Greensville, ON and has been teaching children’s clay classes for over 10 years. Her own clay practice often references place and culture and utilizes pattern and repetition. Nature is also a recurring subject. She has a gift for designing lessons and projects that fuel imaginations and gets artists of all ages excited about building with clay.
