In this 6-week class, artists will improve their self-confidence as they explore self-portraits with guest facilitator Teri Hofford.
Over the course of 6 weeks, the students will embark on a journey of exploring & demonstrating their perspectives through activities and prompts, exploring artistic inspiration and discovering self-acceptance through their chosen mediums of art. Participants will leave with a better understanding of themselves, an improved skillset to share their unique perspective and new self-portraits.
This class is open for anyone over 18 years old, whether they identify as a member of a disability community or not, however the class prioritizes accessibility. Instructions are given in plain language, and the location of the class is wheelchair accessible. If it is your first time attending a class at the NaAC, we encourage you to reach out about any accessibility needs to ensure we can accommodate.
Teri Hofford is a body image educator, photographer, & author who encourages folks to challenge their body image biases & beliefs so they can move closer to self & body acceptance. As an advocate for diversity in the photography industry, Teri has made a name for herself as the go-to body image educator for photographers looking to be more inclusive in their work. With no audience being too small, Teri has spoken in living rooms and on big stages across the world, sharing her message of self & body acceptance. Teri is also a Tedx Speaker whose talk 5 Reasons You Look Bad In Photos has garnered over a million views across all platforms and has encouraged many individuals to stop hiding and start showing up in the world as they are. At the heart of all of Teri's work is the mission to help people feel confident in who they are and provide them with experiences that foster creativity, compassion, curiosity & communication.
