Digital Photography: Independent Projects (5 session)

This supportive, open-ended course invites participants to present ongoing or completed projects and engage in constructive group reflection. Participants are encouraged to experiment with new approaches, develop existing projects, or focus on portfolio enhancement within a reflective, inquiry-based environment free from the hierarchy of traditional critiques. Through shared observation and discussion, the course offers opportunities to reflect on and refine images, fostering growth in photographic practice and creative expression. The course is open to photographers actively engaged in artistic practice or pursuing a creative objective. Students may bring prints of their work to class each week.

- Edit and sequence images to create a cohesive body of work

- Explore creative approaches to composition, subject matter, and visual storytelling
- Build confidence in making artistic decisions and completing projects from conception to final presentation

Supplies for the course may vary based on students individual project goals. Below is a list of the typical supplies for a Digital Photo class. Computers are available with the full Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, but please feel free to bring your own devices. If working on a personal device, you are responsible for the license for any program you plan to use in the course.
- Digital Camera: A DSLR (Digital Single Lense Reflex) is recommended. Other digital cameras will be discussed as needed: compact point-and- shoot, the new mirrorless cameras, and SLR (Single Lens Reflex) cameras)
- Memory card for digital camera
- Please bring an external flash or hard drive to class or be prepared to save your work on a cloud-based storage alternative. Fleisher's computers are shared tools and the hard drives are cleared regularly to keep them in good working condition.

Lianne Milton
Lianne Milton (she/her) is a documentary photographer and educator whose work investigates environmental issues, human rights, and cultural narratives. For two decades, Lianne was an assignment photographer throughout Latin America and Southeast Asia, including Brazil where her work brought global attention to the Zika crisis and security issues in the favelas. Lianne is an adjunct professor of photography in Philadelphia, and continues her longform projects in Brazil.
