Movable Books (tuition-free, 6 session)

Adult Tuition-Free Class | Registration opens Tuesday, October 27, 2026 8:00 AM EDT

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced book maker this class is your introduction to the exciting world of movable books. You will learn simple movable books, fold outs, pop-ups, rotating parts, and other types of movables.

What You Will Learn:
- Sources for materials, tools, and instructional guidance for future learning.
- The basic hand skills of cutting and folding.
- Different papers and other materials used in bookbinding.
- A variety of movable book structures.

Please note: Tuition-free classes require an active Fleisher membership.

  • You will need all supplies listed to participate fully in the first session of class: 

    - Pencil
    - White eraser
    - Metal ruler
    - Triangle
    - Scissors
    - Olfa cutting knife or X-acto with extra blades
    - Bone folder
    - Self-healing Cutting Mat
    - Double Stick Tape
    - Card stock- get yourself some fun colors or patterns
    - Circle hole punches (optional)

Valeria Kremser

Valeria Kremser is a bookbinder, artist, and educator, born and raised in Philadelphia. She works in book conservation at the University of Pennsylvania and teaches children and adults all over Philadelphia and surrounding areas. She is one of the co-chairs of the Delaware Valley Chapter of the Guild of Book Workers, and in her free time, she makes and collects miniature books.
