Having trouble with perspective? This class will bring it back to the basics of one point and two point perspective. We will cover the basics of drawing shapes in perspective, creating perspective grids, and basic layouts in one and two point. We will do follow along drawing demos and study some of the best artist working today. Did I mention were going to do it all by hand as well? Well we are!

We're gonna have a blast!

What You Will Learn: 

- Basic principles of perspective
- Simplifying shapes and masses
- Creating perspective grids
- Create a scene in one point
- Create a scene in two point

Week 1: Two point fundamentals. How to do two point and what to do when your VPS are placed far away from each other.
Week 2: Simple shapes, then turning them into objects, people, and repeating patterns in two point.
Week 3: Using reference to create a scene. Plus how to study from references. Creating Thumbnails.
Week 4 and 5: Creating our own drawing from multiple references. Pt 1 and pt 2 and finishing your piece.

Who This Class Is For:

  • This is an online class hosted through Zoom. We recommend that you download the free Zoom application on your computer, phone, or tablet in advance of the first class. You will receive a confirmation email containing a link to join the course via Zoom. The same link will be used each week.

    Tuition-free classes require an active Fleisher membership.

  • - 8.5"x11" computer or sketch book paper
    - 9"x12" pad of smooth or vellum Bristol board
    - Pencil 
    - Colored pencils red and blue and green

Derick Jones is a Harlem based Cartoonist. He is known for his bloody super hero battles and is the acclaimed writer and artist of Nose Bleed, and writes and draws horror comics for Boom! Studios. He loves to teach and to learn!
