Pen & Ink Drawing
Adult Summer Class | Registration opens Monday, May 4, 2026 8:00 AM EDT
This class will introduce you to the basics of pen & ink drawing. In the first two classes, you will learn how to draw three-dimensional forms such as spheres, cubes, cones, and ribbons in a “calligraphic” manner. You will also grasp how to work with pen & ink by copying techniques. By the third class, you will be drawing from a live model. The lessons learned in the first two weeks will be fundamental in preparing you how to approach figure drawing with pen & ink. Topics covered include three-dimensional visualization, development of spatial imagination, proportion, crosshatching, depth, volume, composition, and material acuity.

Erik Peterson
Erik Adriel Peterson (they/them) is mixed-media narrative painter and educator. They received their MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (‘23), where they also obtained a Post-Baccalaureate degree (‘15). Their BFA was received from the Lyme Academy College of the Fine Arts ('14).
