Photography in the Golden Hour

This workshop explores camera functions for sunset and low-light photography, with a focus on capturing movement, atmosphere, and dramatic shifts in natural light. Participants will travel to several locations in the Philadelphia area to identify compelling compositions and lighting conditions, experimenting with techniques that transform water into mist, blur clouds, and maintain sharp focus in key areas of the frame. The class also includes group discussions of artists working with long exposure photography, along with review and feedback of student images created during the workshop.

- Long exposure techniques to capture motion and atmosphere
- Methods for controlling focus, shutter speed, and light balance
- Approaches to finding strong compositions in changing natural environments
- Techniques for photographing water, clouds, and movement effects
- Critical viewing and discussion of long exposure photography practices

- Digital Camera (All digital cameras are welcome: compact point-and-shoot, the new mirrorless cameras, and SLR (Single Lens Reflex) cameras)
- Memory card for digital camera
- Portable hard drive for securing and saving digital files
- Tripod (not required, but suggested)
Fleisher's computers are shared tools and the hard drives are cleared regularly to keep them in good working condition.
The Studio Fee includes the use of our digital studio, and one digital print.
