Darkroom Crash Course

Curious about traditional photography? In this workshop, you will get a taste of what darkroom photography is all about. Experiment with photograms, develop your own film, print from negatives, learn how to solarize a print, and learn darkroom techniques.
What you will learn:
1. How to make photograms
2. How to use your camera
3. How to develop film
4. How to enlarge and print from your negatives
5. Essential darkroom techniques, like burning and dodging
• Your camera
• A roll of Kodak Tri-X or Ilford HP-5 B&W film
• Ilford MULTIGRADE RC Deluxe Paper (8x10, 25 Sheets)

Ahmed Salvador
Ahmed Salvador has an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art and a BFA from The University of the Arts. He teaches darkroom photography at Fleisher and is an adjunct assistant professor at CUNY. His solo and collaborative works have been seen in shows at Philadelphia galleries including Chimaera, the Halide Project, No.5 Butchie Alley, Space 1026, InLiquid, Wanderlife and Sol Mednick. His video “Lie Awake Dirge” was recently projected on the D&F tower in Denver. Other work has been shown, internationally, at the ViPhotofest in Spain and at the Equinoks festival in the UK.
