Chainmail Jewelry (4 session)

Adult Summer Class | Registration opens Monday, May 4, 2026 8:00 AM EDT

In this introductory four-session class, students will learn how to weave a chainmail bracelet or necklace from loose jump rings using pliers. Through demonstrations and guided practice, participants will learn how to open and close jump rings, handle jewelry pliers, and assemble rings into a classic chainmail weave. Each session builds on the previous one as students develop their skills and work toward completing a wearable piece of jewelry. No prior experience is required.

What You Will Learn
1. The fundamentals of chainmail jewelry and how jump-ring weaves are constructed
2. How to safely and effectively use jewelry pliers for chainmail work
3. Techniques for opening and closing jump rings while maintaining their shape
4. How to create and repeat a classic chainmail weave pattern
5. Strategies for maintaining consistent alignment and clean connections in your weave
6. How to size, finish, and attach a clasp to complete a bracelet or necklace
7. Tips for troubleshooting common chainmail challenges and continuing projects independently

Nox Wulong

Nox Wulong Shou (they/them/theirs) is a Philadelphia based metalsmith, sculptor, jewelry designer, and multi-disciplinary artist. They have a BFA from the University of the Arts with an emphasis in Sculpture, and they apprenticed with a goldsmith on Jeweler's Row. Nox's teaching history includes teaching drawing to young children, chainmail to teenagers at Fleisher's Teen Art Lounge, and has lectured as a guest lecturer and teacher assistant at the University of the Arts.
