With so many films now available at our fingertips, it's easy to rely on streaming menus, computer algorithms and a calcified critical consensus to sort out film history for us. Here is a specially curated mix of comedy & drama from the last fifty years; all films that drew strong acclaim but for varied reasons have drifted out of the general cinematic orbit.
We'll present the history of the films, the directors and the collaborators, and explore the underlying themes and methods the filmmakers pursued. It's a slate of films rich with ideas; we look forward to our post-screening discussion.
