Adult jumpstART Workshop | Available

This one day workshop will cover the basics of screenprinting on paper and fabric with inks made from natural dyes and thickened into a screenprint ink. We will discuss natural pigments and bio materials. Go over the basics of screen printing. Learn various chemical reactions that are possible with natural inks. And end with open work time/ experimentation with printing on paper and fabric so that you will leave with your own original print.

What you will learn:
How to make natural pigments and thicken them into a screenprinting gel
- The basics of screen printing on paper and fabric
- How to print with photo emulsion/ cut paper
- Experimentation with chemical reactions

  • - There will be black coffee ink, cabbage ink, salt ink, among others available for you to experiment with, we will also provide paper and scrap fabric
    - Bring clothing that you can get messy in and comfortable shoes for walking on concrete floors

    Optional:
You can bring in your own jar of homemade ink. Think of making a really really really strong tea. Many things that you can make ink with are in your kitchen including black tea, red onion skin, avocado, turmeric, etc which all work great. Also if you prefer to print with your own screen, paper, or fabric, you are welcome to bring it in. You may also want to bring in a mason jar/ yogurt container/ Talenti ice cream container to take some ink with you.
