This class shows that drawing is accessible to everyone and helps you confidently begin your practice. You will develop the ability to observe objects and spaces in everyday life, simplify them into basic forms, and translate them onto the page using line, texture, and shading. The course includes practical tips and approaches for drawing from life and composing your own images.

What You Will Learn
- Basic principles of drawing
- Introductory skills for using pencil and charcoal
- How to simplify objects and spaces into basic forms, identify light sources, and render shadows and highlights
- Techniques for exploring line quality and shading

  • • 14” x 17” white drawing paper pad or equivalent
    • Drawing pencils: HB, B, 2B, 6B, 2H
    • Pencil sharpener
    • Kneaded eraser
    • Hard eraser such as white plastic eraser
    • A charcoal pencil
