Alternative Framing Techniques (4 Sessions)
Adult Class | Registration opens Monday, February 9, 2026 8:00 AM EST
Are you looking for a framing solution that is cost-effective and looks professional? Join this hands-on workshop to learn how to display your small-scale works on paper without glass or a mat. In this class you will mount your artwork to a cradled wood panel using quality materials for a clean presentation. Build a wood cradle from scratch, and discover options for ready-made panels for future framing projects. Frame one to two works of art in class, and go home with all the skills needed to keep framing your work on your own!
What You Will Learn:
- Apply (optional) coatings to protect your work from sun and moisture
- Cut wood pieces and assemble your own wood-cradled panel Permanently mount your artwork
- Create finished frameless edges, or add an (optional) floating wood frame
- Attach hardware for hanging your finished piece!
• Please bring two pieces of artwork (up to 12 x 18 inches), ready to be framed in this workshop to the first class.
• All basic framing materials will be supplied in your lab
• Bring a sketch/sample/test piece of artwork in the same media as your finished artwork. This will allow you to test the spray and wax sealants on your media of choice to decide if you would like to use them on your finished artwork.
