In this class, we'll be learning about Nerikomi, a traditional Japanese technique of layering different clay bodies. This technique offers many surface options, and we will be going over repetitive patterns (i.e. checkered) and agate structures (i.e. marbled). We will be working with dark and light clay bodies.
What You Will Learn: - Understand the fundamentals and history of Nerikomi, a traditional Japanese clay layering technique
- Learn how to layer and combine different clay bodies to create decorative surfaces
- Explore repetitive pattern designs, such as checkered and geometric layouts
- Create agate-style (marbled) clay structures using dark and light clays
