Leather Accessories (5 sessions)

Always wondered how accessories are made? Interested in knowing more about working with leather? Learn the basics of accessory design and hand-sewing leather to create a small project of your own. Join faculty artist Cassie Jones in her own studio to dive into leather working. We'll cover the basics and set you on your way to make your very own pieces with minimal tools. Patterns for wallets and journal covers will be provided. No experience is necessary, and all materials provided.
What You Will Learn:
- Introduction to cutting and hand-sewing for leatherwork
- Familiarity with leatherworking tools
- How to work from patterns
Accessibility Notes: Please note that this class will meet at the artist's studio located at 10 N 3rd Street in Old City and stairs are required. This studio is accessible by bike and public transportation (1 block from 2nd & Market) and by car. There is metered street parking but no dedicated parking lot on site.
- Supplies for basic projects will be provided. Students may want to purchase their own supplies for continued or more advanced projects.
The instructor will discuss additional supplies on the first.
Cassie Jones
My Name is Cassie Jones. I am traditionally trained in many types of arts and continue to search for more skillsets and experiences with visual arts. I began my creative career working with leather under the brand CUSP by Cassie for many years before moving my sights into embroidery and embellishing. I now am continuing with the trend of fiber work while incorporating fired clay and mixing mediums into my practice. I am currently building a new collection to show in galleries, instructing classes through The Craft Coven, Fleisher Art Memorial, and Black Hound Clay Studio, and facilitating learning opportunities with visiting artists and instructors.
