This 3-day immersive figure modeling workshop will focus on observation and basic anatomy, on understanding and blocking in abstract shapes, in order to ultimately create an effective figure sculpture from life. We will begin with quick maquettes and ultimately choose a sustained pose for a more developed, larger sculpture in clay that can be subsequently fired at Fleisher. The class will offer demonstrations by Julia to illustrate her methodology, as well as individual critiques to assist students in meeting their personal goals. The students will be able to apply the skills they learn across artistic disciplines, in other classes and in their studios. All levels are welcome.
