Mixed Media: Collage and Handprinting (five sessions)

Adult Class | Registration opens Monday, October 20, 2025 8:00 AM EDT

Discover the tactile and expressive potential of collage and handprinting in this hands-on, process-based class. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Betye Saar, Barbara Kruger, and Sister Corita Kent, we will explore how printed marks, found materials, and hand-cut imagery can be combined to tell powerful visual stories.

Using experimental approaches to monoprinting, stamping, and layered collage, students will delve into themes of memory, language, identity, and material culture. The focus will be on intuitive making, improvisation, and the dynamic relationship between image and surface.

Each session includes technique demonstrations, guided creative prompts, and open studio time for personal exploration. Students will be encouraged to embrace imperfection and use repetition, layering, and remixing as tools for expression and discovery.

Please note: Class will not meet on Monday, January 19 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
