Come learn about the possibilities of paperclay! By adding fiber to clay, we can break many of the traditional rules of ceramics, including the need to fire work for it to be durable and finished. In this workshop, students will learn how to use paper clay to build delicate forms that can't be achieved with regular clay, how to use glue to make unfired work durable, slip-dipping fabric to create detailed ceramic replicas of cloth objects.

What you will learn:
1. Learn how to prepare paperclay slip types for fired and unfired work
2. Build delicate forms focusing on negative space and structural design
3. Slip-dip found objects for fired work
4. Make super thin vessels with paperclay "sandwich" slab building methods

Firing Schedule: All work should be placed on the bisque firing shelf by Friday, February 27, and on the glaze firing shelf by Friday, March 6 to guarantee it will be fired by the last week of classes. Students can continue to drop off work for glaze firing until Friday, March 13. Finished work can be picked up during operational hours between terms, or the following term. Please review your class schedule as not all classes meet through the week of March 9-13. All artwork and supplies must be removed from Fleisher’s Ceramics Studio shelving by March 13 unless registered for a Ceramics class during the upcoming Spring 2026 term.
