Mosaics (Monday)

Discover the art of mosaics through this introduction to the techniques, history, and aesthetic context of both decorative and functional works. You’ll work with a range of materials—including stone, ceramic, and glass—while exploring design, pattern, construction, and presentation. Along the way, your instructor will share insights into historical and contemporary mosaic traditions, as well as practical tips on sourcing materials and tools for your own projects.
What You Will Learn
1) Fundamentals of mosaic design, pattern-making, and construction
2) Techniques for cutting, shaping, and assembling stone, ceramic, and glass
3) How to create both decorative and functional mosaic works
4) Methods for finishing and presenting completed pieces
5) Guidance on sourcing materials and specialized tools for future projects
