Hand Printing Techniques (tuition-free)

With this in depth class on hand printing, we will go over many techniques for achieving formal prints without using a press. Many projects will have the option of recycled and alternative materials, with a focus on refined final pieces. Students will have the option to explore advanced options like natural dyes and supported color mixing. We will go over: relief printing, gelli printing, monoprinting, natural dye printing, DIY screenprinting.
What you will learn:
1. Methods of creating a limited run or series of art prints.
2. Forms of visual color mixing by overly transparencies.
3. Pros and Cons of using a Master plate or design to create multiples.
• Participants must have a valid Fleisher membership.
Please note that this class will meet at the artist's studio located at 10 N 3rd Street. in Old City. This studio is accessible by bike and public transportation (1 block from 2nd & Market) and by car. There is metered street parking but no dedicated parking lot on site.

• Linoleum blocks
• Brayer roller (Soft or Hard will make a difference but buy whichever you can afford. For size, you’ll want a bit wider than your linoleum block’s shortest side)
• Baren
• Painters tape 1”

• Variety of papers (computer paper is great for trials, but 100% cotton will be best for final prints)
