Storage Books (four sessions)

In this class, we will explore some expanding book structures. This class is perfect for artists and collectors looking to display things in a book format. We will make books that hold flat items like photos or collages and that can hold more dimensional things like coins or feathers. You will learn some basic binding techniques using traditional tools and materials. Through demonstrations & guided instruction, students will work through multiple projects throughout the class.
Here are the personal tools and supplies you will need. You will need everything to participate in the first week of class, so please feel free to e-mail with questions.
• Pencil
• White eraser
• Metal ruler
• Triangle
• Scissors
• Olfa cutting knife or X-acto with extra blades
• Bone folder
• Awl or thin needle tool (as used for clay)
• Self-healing Cutting Mat
• Binder Clips - At least 2 medium sized
• Triangle (not 100% necessary, but it can really help)
• Ephemera, art, photos, and slightly dimensional objects for including in the books.
