Art of Quilting
Adult Class | Available
This class was developed to provide the student with a quilt that may be passed from generation to generation. Whether you choose to select a family member, famous person, event or experience, the quilt will evoke the memory. Students will use their stash of fabric, floss and thread to make something meaningful and perhaps cherished. In this workshop you will have a chance to work through the design process to develop a work of fiber art. They will develop the element in their quilt using photograph, wording, embellishments, stitching or applique. Students will submit photographs that the teacher will transfer to fabric. Additionally, they will explore hand-sewn quilting and embroidery techniques to add dimension, mark, and texture. Finally, they will learn to bind and display your art quilt. The class is basically hand stitching, but some may prefer sewing machines. Students may bring your own familiar portable sewing machine or request to use a sewing machine on site during the session. Some knowledge of sewing and embroidery is recommended but not required.
