Introduction to Wheel Throwing, Session 1 (five-day workshop)

Adult Summer Workshop | Registration opens Monday, May 5, 2025 8:00 AM EDT

A perfect introduction to pottery, this intensive workshop will cover basic wheel throwing techniques: centering clay, forming cylinders and bowls, and glazing and surface treatment. You will also have the opportunity to hone your skills on the pottery wheel without having to let a week go by between throwing sessions! Consistent practice is everything. Let the daily practice of making pottery build your skill set and bring your pots to the next level!

Firing Schedule: All work should be placed on the bisque firing shelf by Friday, July 11, and on the glaze firing shelf by Friday, July 18 to guarantee it will be fired by the last week of classes. Students can continue to drop off work for glaze firing until Friday, July 25. Adjusted schedules for workshops and immersives will be shared by the instructor at the start of the session. Finished work can be picked up during operational hours between terms, or the following term. We will store unclaimed work for one term only. Questions about the firing schedule can be directed to Scott Cooper, Senior Studio Technician at scooper@fleisher.org.

Please review your class schedule as not all classes meet through the week of July 25. All artwork and supplies must be removed from Fleisher’s Ceramics Studio shelving by August 2 unless registered for a Ceramics class during the upcoming Fall 2025 term.
