First Steps to Drawing (tuition-free, five sessions)

Adult Tuition-Free Class | FULL (Membership Required)

Anyone can learn to draw, including YOU! This course is designed for students who are just beginning or maybe who’ve never drawn before. Like any skill, learning to draw takes practice. This beginner course will introduce students to various drawing techniques and exercises that train the eye and the hand to work in unison.

Drawing is about looking and seeing, therefore each session will help students develop observational skills while encouraging an attitude of playfulness and exploration. The class will consist primarily of observational still-life practices. Instructions will include; developing line drawings, using value to create form and volume, understanding figure-ground relationships, and learning to draw a balanced composition.
