Loom Weaving Immersive
Adult Immersive | Available
Join us for this special opportunity to learn all about loom weaving at a variety of scales with artist Anna Bockrath! Participants will learn about a range of weaving materials, techniques, and histories. All who join will have the chance to create original works and try their hands at weaving on one of Fleisher's long-stored-away floor looms!
All levels are welcome. Whether you are new to weaving, up for a refresher, or an experienced fiber artist excited to try something new at Fleisher, this immersive workshop and open studio is for you.
What you will learn:
1. Weaving techniques, terminology, and history
2. How to make a small frame loom
3. How to dress and use a large floor loom
The class will meet for instruction on six mornings over the course of the two weeks with open studio time between class sessions. Please see the schedule below. This structure will give each person a chance to use the large floor loom while also providing a space for artists to work together and practice skills and techniques introduced by Anna during the class meeting times.

Fleisher will provide cotton warp yarn and a few options for weft yarn. Students are encouraged to bring yarn they are interested in working with! For this immersive we recommend at least 8/2 or lace weight yarn.
Some great local shops to purchase weaving yarn: Weaver House (located in the Bok Building, South Philadelphia), and Wild Hand (located in Mt. Airy). The Resource Exchance also often has yarn options!
