Figure Drawing, Morning (tuition-free)

Adult Tuition-Free Class | This program is completed

Learn the basic theories, principals, and techniques to successfully draw the figure. With a focus on improving observational skills, the class will also build essential knowledge of drawing fundamentals through handouts, demonstrations, and lots of drawing from a live model. Benefit from plenty of individual instructor feedback, group discussions, and dialogue about your work in progress to help improve your drawing skills.

What you will learn:
1. Gesture drawings
2. Long drawing
3. Drawing from multiple viewpoints
4. Composing multiple figures on the page
5. Discussing methods and materials

• Participants must have a valid Fleisher membership.

  • You are free to use any drawing materials you choose. The supply list is composed of suggested materials that reflect the instructor’s demonstrated techniques.

    Start the term with these supplies:
    • A newsprint pad, suggested size 18" x 24”
    • A sketchbook, suggested size 8" x 10”
    • Pencils HB, 4B, 3B
    • Kneaded rubber eraser

    Other supplies to be discussed on the first day of class:
    • Soft vine charcoal
    • Charcoal paper pad
    • Toned charcoal paper
    • White chalk, or conte crayon
    • Pastels

Erik Peterson

Erik Adriel Peterson (they/them) is mixed-media narrative painter and educator. They received their MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (‘23), where they also obtained a Post-Baccalaureate degree (‘15). Their BFA was received from the Lyme Academy College of the Fine Arts ('14).
