Printing: Stone Lithography (two-day workshop)
Adult Summer Workshop | This program has been canceled
A two-day workshop in lithography focussing solely on demonstrating what many consider "best practices" when proofing or editioning a lithography stone. Through some lecture, demonstration, and some hands-on practice, students will learn how to proof and how to edition a properly established image from litho stone. Topics of discussion will include basic press operation of FAM's Charles brand and "Fuch's and Lang-style" litho presses, inking roller usage and care, proper sponging practices, trouble-shooting common issues that may come up while proofing or editioning, edition documentation, and conventions in signing and numbering prints.
What you will learn:
1. The basic principles of why/how stone lithography "works"
2. Basic press operation of Fleisher Art Memorial's two litho presses
3. Proper press and press station set-up and clean-up
4. Strategies for proofing and editioning a stone
