Introduction to Wheel Throwing (five-day workshop)

Adult Summer Workshop | This program is completed

A perfect introduction to pottery, this intensive workshop will cover basic wheel throwing techniques: centering clay, forming cylinders and bowls, and glazing and surface treatment. You will also have the opportunity to hone your skills on the pottery wheel without having to let a week go by between throwing sessions! Consistent practice is everything. Let the daily practice of making pottery build your skill set and bring your pots to the next level!

Firing Schedule: Your instructor will discuss the firing schedule directly. Students can drop off work for glaze firing until Friday, July 26. Finished work can be picked up during operational hours between terms. Additional questions about the firing schedule can be directed to Chris Archer, Senior Studio Technician at carcher@fleisher.org.

All artwork and supplies must be removed from Fleisher’s Ceramics Studio shelving by July 26 unless registered for a Ceramics class during the upcoming Fall 2024 term. All other items left behind on student shelves may be discarded before the next term begins.

  • • Your first bag of clay is included in your registration - no outside clay is permitted. Additional clay can be purchased at the front desk.
    • Bring your own tools or anything you think could be used as a tool
    • A basic pottery tool kit which includes a sponge, a steel scraper, a potter’s rib, a modeling tool, a wire cutter, a needle tool, a ribbon tool & a loop tool

    Additional Items:
    • Brushes for glazing
    • Container for slip
