A perfect introduction to pottery, this intensive workshop will cover basic wheel throwing techniques: centering clay, forming cylinders and bowls, and glazing and surface treatment. You will also have the opportunity to hone your skills on the pottery wheel without having to let a week go by between throwing sessions! Consistent practice is everything. Let the daily practice of making pottery build your skill set and bring your pots to the next level!

Firing Schedule: If you want to take finished work home on your last day of class you must place work on the bisque firing shelf by Friday, July 12 and work on the glaze firing shelf by Friday, July 19. Work can be dropped off for glaze firing until Friday, July 26. Finished work can be picked up during operational hours between terms.

  • • Your first bag of clay is included in your registration - no outside clay is permitted. Additional clay can be purchased at the front desk.
    • Bring your own tools or anything you think could be used as a tool
    • A basic pottery tool kit which includes a sponge, a steel scraper, a potter’s rib, a modeling tool, a wire cutter, a needle tool, a ribbon tool & a loop tool

    Additional Items:
    • Brushes for glazing
    • Container for slip
