Urban Sketching

Adult Summer Class | This program is completed

Loosen up your drawing style and breathe new creativity into your artmaking. You will be challenged to capture the bustling life of the city through quick sketches in pen, pencil and watercolor. Each session will take place at some of Philadelphia’s most beloved and iconic landmarks, including 30th Street Station, Reading Terminal Market, and the 9th Street Market. Topics covered in this class include choosing and framing your scene, sketching at a quick pace, conveying detail through modest means, drawing in perspective, and watercolor techniques.

4. Sketching with watercolors
5. Conveying detail through modest means

Locations by session (subject to change):
Week 1: Fleisher Art Memorial
Week 2: 3rd and Market St - Meet at Artists & Craftsman
Week 3: 18th and Walnut St - Rittenhouse Square
Week 4: City Hall (meet across from the clothes pin at Dilworth park - facing West Philly)
Week 5: Reading Terminal Market outside/inside
Week 6: 9th and Christian St

In case of inclement weather this class will meet at Fleisher.
