Want to learn to design and make jewelry that is based on developing your own aesthetic vocabulary? Students get to explore their own ideas of shape, and scale and apply them in the design and creation of a set of jewelry. Learn the basics or deepen your jewelry making techniques including sawing, forming, soldering and finishing. Students can work with found materials, copper, brass or sterling silver.to design a pendant, ring and earrings that are related by each student's unique design concept.

What you will learn:
1. History of jewelry making and design basics
2. Designing jewelry sets
3. Jewelry making techniques including sawing, sanding, forming and finishing as well as cold connections like riveting
4. Working with found objects and metals such as copper, brass, silver
5. Using hand tools

  • • 2 dozen 3/0 saw blades
    • 3" x 3" Sheet of 20 gauge copper sheet
    • 3" x 3" Sheet of 20 gauge brass sheet
    • Sketch book
    • Pencil
    • Ruler
    • Tracing paper
    • Roll of double stick tape
    • 3 paint sticks
    • 1 sheet each of wet or dry silicone carbide sand paper in grits 220, 320 and 400
    • Masking tape
