Chainstitch and Photo Embroidery (two sessions)
Adult Workshop | This program is completed
Join patch artist Cassie Jones at her Cherry Street Pier studio to explore a selection of highly textural applications of embroidery onto fabric and the process of incorporating photos into your fabric pieces. The workshop will cover both hand and machine methods for embroidery and each person will have the opportunity to use a traditional crank directed chain stitch machine.
What you will learn:
1. How to successfully create a design well suited for chainstitching
2. How to choose fabric and use a small scale punch needle tool
3. The basics of how a chain stitch machine works
Cassie Jones
My Name is Cassie Jones. I am traditionally trained in many types of arts and continue to search for more skillsets and experiences with visual arts. I began my creative career working with leather under the brand CUSP by Cassie for many years before moving my sights into embroidery and embellishing. I now am continuing with the trend of fiber work while incorporating fired clay and mixing mediums into my practice. I am currently building a new collection to show in galleries, instructing classes through The Craft Coven, Fleisher Art Memorial, and Black Hound Clay Studio, and facilitating learning opportunities with visiting artists and instructors.
